- Preparation: Clean the slate thoroughly to ensure the best results. Secure it firmly on your work surface to prevent movement during engraving.
- Settings: Use a power setting of 20-30%, speed of 300-400 mm/s, and DPI between 300-600. Adjust these settings based on your specific laser engraver and slate type.
- Testing: Always test on a scrap piece of slate to fine-tune your settings. Decrease power (or increase speed) if the engraving is too light or burning. Increase power (or decrease speed) if it's too dark .
- Technique: Consistently position the slate to account for variations in texture and ensure even engraving. Allow the slate to cool between passes if necessary.
- Finishing: Clean the slate after engraving to remove any residue or dust, revealing a crisp, clear design.
